My Bike
I have worked for a motorcycle company for over ten years, and since day one customers have always asked, “Do you ride?” I would have to say “No, but someday I’ll have one.” Last year that statement came true my boss gave me a motorcycle, well a skeleton motorcycle it was little more than a rolling chassis (frame & wheels). Never the less I was excited so I cleared space in my garage and brought her home. In short order I took an inventory of what I had and the parts I would need to get her running again. Unfortunately that’s about as far as I got, I determined very quickly that building a bike from pieces was going to be a big task, I was going to need assistance from someone that had more experience than I had. So the bike sat on my make-shift motorcycle bench with little to no progress for about six months. The future wasn’t looking bright for this motorcycle that had spent the majority of its life in inoperable condition.
In early summer of that year we hired someone to manage our e-commerce website, one of the things that made him an attractive candidate was the fact that he had been a motorcyclist for most of his life. As fate would have it he was quite the wrench as well he is fairly well known in the scooter world, so much so that he was able to run a small business supplying people around the world with vintage scooter parts. What I didn’t know at the time is this new hire would take a strong interest in my project bike. With his help I was able to get the bike off the bench and on the road. Not to mention the bike has many added perks because it was used as a R&D platform for many of our newest accessories. As of today my bike has over six hundred miles and I can say to anyone that asks “Yes, I ride a ‘09 G5 Military.”
